Responding to Growing Humanitarian Needs in Lebanon

Following the renewed escalation of hostilities in Lebanon in March 2026, ADRA has been actively responding to the urgent needs of displaced families across the country.

Ongoing attacks, airstrikes, and insecurity have resulted in civilian casualties, severe infrastructure damage, and widespread displacement. More than one million people are displaced nationwide, including approximately 125,600 individuals sheltering in over 630 collective centers.

Responding to Growing Humanitarian Needs in Lebanon

In response to the growing crisis, ADRA Lebanon activated its National Emergency Management Plan (NEMP) and Emergency Response Team in March 2026. The organization has conducted rapid needs assessments and launched emergency interventions in shelters and host communities.

With its NEMP funds, ADRA Lebanon distributed hygiene kits, dignity kits, and water containers to 432 families, approximately 1,944 individuals, in shelters.

In April, ADRA Lebanon implemented the Seventh-Day Adventist MEU Church Response, supporting 438 displaced people through food and hygiene e-vouchers. This assistance enabled families to purchase essential food and hygiene items according to their most urgent needs through a partner supermarket network.

Working with Local Partners and Volunteers

Collaboration with local organizations and volunteers has played a key role in expanding the response and addressing urgent needs on the ground.

Through a partnership with Tahaddi, a community-based organization, ADRA Lebanon provided emergency bedding assistance to displaced families facing critical shelter shortages. Initially, 160 individuals received mattresses, blankets, and pillows, while additional support continues for more than 200 people.

Volunteers from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, including teams from the Adventist Community Center (ACC) and Adventist Learning Center (ALC), contributed to the response through outreach activities and relief distributions.

Overall, ADRA Lebanon’s initial emergency interventions directly supported 2,542 people.

The partnership between ADRA Lebanon and Slovakia also extended to material humanitarian aid. Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Affairs of the Republic of Slovakia, they secured a shipment of 80 parcels containing school bags, hygiene supplies, and water bottles for IDP children in Lebanon. This shipment was part of Slovakia’s official humanitarian aid and demonstrated the strong ties between the two countries in responding to Lebanon’s growing needs.

Expanding Food Assistance Efforts

As humanitarian needs continue to grow, ADRA Lebanon has scaled up its emergency response through larger food security initiatives launched in May 2026.

In partnership with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB), ADRA Canada, and other ADRA Network offices, ADRA Lebanon provides three monthly food e-vouchers to 1,090 highly vulnerable displaced families — representing 4,905 individuals — living outside formal displacement centers.

In addition, with support from Polish Aid and ADRA Poland, ADRA Lebanon is extending food assistance to another 1,565 internally displaced persons using the same e-voucher approach.

Through these coordinated efforts, ADRA Lebanon continues to provide lifesaving support to displaced communities while adapting its response to the evolving humanitarian situation across the country.
